noun
Meaning nothing in particular in either Spanish or any other Latin-based language, but rather a pseudonym guise for one Marco Pasillas' individual musical ventures and undertakings. Volano's music manages to combine, blend and transpose different musical genres with atmospheric landscapes of sound and elements of traditional song structure. Performing with Jazz, Blues and Funk groups in the past has further embellished his wide musical tastes and helped enhance his bass playing chops. Pasillas has always experimented with his own individual ideas (having been one-half of the high profile, bilingual Metal-Hip Hop duo 'Camel Toe') but it wasn't until just before the new millennium that the seed of which Volano would be conceived was planted. Sequencer based demos began to emerge quickly out of these ideas, with a rather simple studio setup, and so the reality of Volano as a project came to light.
Simply titled 'Volano', the first collection of songs bear little resemblance to Marco's previous work. Instead, an adventurous and varied track listing, which combines elements of electronic, punk, metal, latin and funk, come through the speakers with power and melody. During the ten haunting and seductive tracks, complete songs split and divide with alarming regularity.
Volano has since set work on a new album. After several years of starts-stops, fine tuning and more distractions, 'Aprend'i will feature the contributing talents of Italian Composer/Pianist Sal Ingrilli, veteran keyboardist Rick Baeza and former Camel Toe band mate and brother Cel Pasillas on nylon string guitar.
